Due to the 2004 tsunami there are thousands of orphans, or children who have only one surviving parent. Together with a Spanish charity, AGAI, we have started a scheme to help as many of these children as we can and give them the best possible start in life. It is very important that these children should be brought up in a family rather than an institution - however good an orphanage is it is not as good as being a part of a family. Where there is a surviving parent who is unable to work we give financial support to enable them to have sufficient food, shelter, school clothes and books. If the parent also needs medical care we will provide what we can. Giving orphans a brighter future
We would like to thank Stephan Keller and his German organisation Aceh’s Kinder in Not e.V. for there generous donation of 45,000,000 rupiah. Kitchen equipment books, pens school uniforms, sports equipment and much more was recently donated to the orphanage. Children from a school in Angmering, west Sussex, raised enough money to make a basket ball/volley ball court for the orphanage.
There are many oprhans and many orphanages like this one, all of them deserving and requiring our long term support. Regular donations of a small amount each month makes it possible for us to plan in advance with confidence that we have the resources we need. If we can support the health and education of the next generation in Sumatra they will truly be able to look forward to a better future. To download a regular gift form please click here |
